Eyes Up, Guardian!
Sunbreaking is a mod created by BrandRobKus that aims to insert the Supers from Destiny into Minecraft!

While Beyond Light and Lightfall introduced the player to the concept of harnessing the Darkness, Sunbreaking is currently only focusing on some of the fan-favorite Light subclasses. In particular, the mod introduces the Subclasses that released during the Taken King era of Destiny: Sunbreaker, Nightstalker, and Stormcaller. These three Subclasses can be fully harnessed by donning the weapon and armor associated with them, and slotting in their Aspects and Fragments to fully take advantage of the buildcrafting opportunities this mod provides!
Weapons:
The mod introduces two new weapon types and three new Super Weapons! While the Super Weapons are post Netherite and are geared more towards end game Vanilla+, the Throwing Hammer and Glaive can be found decently early in a playthrough.
The Throwing Hammer is fairly self explanatory: it hits slightly less hard than an axe, but can be thrown like a Trident, albeit with slightly less reach. It also has three enchantments exclusive to it.
- Recall: a Hammer exclusive version of Loyalty
- Bludgeoning: A damage buff enchantment similar to Sharpness on Swords and Axes
- Bulk: A damage buff that trade off speed and throwing distance for extra damage and the ability do disarm shields like how Axes do. Is Mutually Exclusive with Bludgeoning
Glaives are fairly interesting. Like their Destiny Counterpart, they have three functions:
- They can melee hit for solid up close damage
- They can shoot a projectile from their spear head
- They can block incoming damage like a Shield
These effects have a limit, whihc will be disclosed further down. Glaives are coded as an extension of Swords, and as such, have all of the Sword enchantments available to them.
Super Weapons:

Hammer of Sol
The Hammer of Sol is the whole reason this mod exists in the first place, as inferred by the name of the mod Sunbreaking. It is an upgrade of the Throwing Hammer that throws further and explodes on impact. It's meant to be more aggressive and flexible with how you dispatch targets.

Shadowshot
The Shadowshot Bow is an upgrade of the Bow, and as such can have all of the Bow enchantments, both vanilla and modded. It is slightly stronger as the arrows it shoots are slightly faster. However, shooting a Shadowshot Arrow from it (which can be toggled between using them and using other arrows by hitting the [R] key) will summon a Shadowshot Node at the location of where the arrow lands. This Node will create a particle field around it, which anything caught within the field gets Weakness I, Slowness III, and Glowing for their duration within. This is the most support-oriented effect of the three Super weapons, as it is designed to control the field and to give your allies the upper hand, rather than outright doing damage all the time.

Stormcaller's Bond
The Stormcaller's Bond is worn on the arm, but does not require any dependency such as Trinkets. It's a mere trick! A ruse! The Bond only appears this way when you're holding the Bond in your hand, as it's just a 3d item model. NOTE: It's untested, but for any mods that adjust the Player's animations, the item may look weird if the arms do not stay straight like how Vanilla does it.
The Bond differs from the Destiny Stormcaller the most, as rather than having electrical wizard fingers, the player throws out a Storm Ball, which on contact with any surface, will bounce up and create a Conductive Zone. Anything within the zone, save for the Player, will be struck with lightning, which does more damage then regular lightning and does not set the struck location on fire. It is a great way to get chip damage on someone or something, and can catch opposing players or mobs by surprise if you corner them in a tight room.
Armor:
Sunbreaking adds three new armor sets to the game: Stormcaller's Armor, Sunbreaker's Armor, and Nightstalker's Armor. All three sets are loosely based off of armor you can find in the game. These armor sets do nothing on their own, save for the Nightstalker's set, which goes invisible when the player has the Invisibility effect, though you lose it when melee hitting a target. Something of note, the Stormcaller's and Nightstalker's have a slightly lower toughness than Netherite (2.5 and 2 respectively). However, this is made up by their Aspects.
Meters
Almost everything in Sunbreaking revolves around two meters: the Gear meter (top) and the Super meter (bottom). These will only be visible if you have an item that uses them in your inventory or if you have one of the Sunbreaking Armor sets equipped. When holding an item that uses one of these meters, it will show you the meter cost at the end of your available Meter - the red for the Gear, and the orange, blue, or purple for the Hammer, Bond, and bow respectively. The meters fill up passively, but they also fill up by dealing melee damage to a target, with the Gear meter filling up much faster than the Super meter.
Aspects
Aspects can be slotted into a Chestplate of one of the Sunbreaking Armor Chestplates like a Bundle, and by default can store up to two different Aspects. These Aspects give additional buffs to the Player when they have the full respective armor set on. The list is as follows:
Sunbreaker Aspects:
- Aspect of Tempering: Being on fire grants increased Gear meter recharge speed. Pressing the Armor Effect Toggle button [V] grants Fire Resistance, but being on fire with Fire Resistance reduces your Super meter.
- Aspect of Radiance: Defeating a target with a melee blow grants Strength for 7 seconds.
- Aspect of Solace: Defeating a target while at low health grants Regeneration for 7 seconds.
- Aspect of Resolve: Defeating a target with the Hammer of Sol grants increased Super meter charge speed for 7 seconds.
- Aspect of Benevolence: Damage you deal with hammers or explosions contribute to your Super and Gear meters, but reduces Super and Gear meter contributions from all other damage sources.
Nightstalker Aspects:
- Aspect of Obscurity: Pressing the Armor Effect Toggle button [V] grants Invisibilty, though this drains your Super meter. Thrown Smoke Bombs will make your Fireteam members invisible if they are within its radius.
- Aspect of Execution: You have Strength II for the duration of your Invisibility effects placed on you.
- Aspect of Dilation: Defeating a target while at low health grants Absorption 2.
- Aspect of Renewal: Defeating a target with the Shadowshot Bow grants increased Super meter charge speed for 4 seconds.
- Aspect of Harvest: Damage you deal with arrows contribute to your Super and Gear meters, but reduces Super and Gear meter contributions from all other damage sources.
Stormcaller Aspects:
- Aspect of Surge: Pressing the Armor Effect Toggle button [V] after sprinting for a short time grants Speed, and sprinting for an additional amount of time afterwards grants Speed II, though it does drain your Super meter for the duration. While Speed II is active, melee hitting a target strikes them with Lightning.
- Aspect of Brilliance: Lightning strikes you cause blind targets.
- Aspect of Resistance: Getting struck by Lightning grants Resistance for 5 seconds.
- Aspect of Recharge: Defeating a target with the Stormcaller's Bond grants increased Super meter charge speed for 7 seconds.
- Aspect of Frequency: Damage you deal with lightning strikes contribute to your Super and Gear meters, but reduces Super and Gear meter contributions from all other damage sources.
Since each armor set can store up to two of their respective Aspects, and due to their hot-swappable nature, it is encouraged to try new tings with them, and to find a build that works for you!
Fragments
Like Aspects, Fragments can be equipped into your Super Weapons like they are a bundle, can hold up to 2 unique Fragments, and grant additional effects depending on the Fragments equipped. Unlike Aspects, however, some Fragments can be stacked, and have more potent effects depending on how many can be equipped at once in their respective items.
Hammer of Sol Fragments
- Fragment of Combustion: Increases Blast Radius and Damage of the Hammer of Sol's explosion, but increases Super meter cost with each stack. Stacks up to VI.
- Fragment of Blistering: Ignites the ground at the point of impact.
- Fragment of Ashes: Spawns three Explosive Cluster Bombs at the point of impact that travel a short distance and explode on contact.
- Fragment of Searing: Ignites targets on melee hit, with burn duration dependent on how many stacks are equipped. Stacks up to IV.
Shadowshot Bow Fragments
- Fragment of Expulsion: Increases the Radius of the Shadowshot Node Field. Stacks up to IV.
- Fragment of Instability: The Shadowshot Node will pull in mobs for the duration of its lifetime.
- Fragment of Cessation: On despawn, the Shadowshot Node will explode.
- Fragment of Vigilance: Shooting a Shadowshot Arrow has a 25% chance to not consume it. Stacks up to IV.
Stormcaller's Bond Fragments
- Fragment of Shock: Press the Toggle Weapon Effect Button [R] to switch to "Precision Mode" which costs less of your Super meter, but only spawns one Lightning Bolt at the struck location.
- Fragment of Volts: Throws out an additional Storm Ball per stack, but increases Super meter cost. Stacks up to II.
- Fragment of Feedback: Reduces Super cost, but increases time between throws.
- Fragment of Beacons: Striking a target with a Lightning Bolt gives them the Glowing effect, with increased stacks giving it for a higher duration. Defeating a Glowing target while the Stormcaller's Bond is equipped slightly fills your Super meter.
Other Cool Things
/Fireteam
/Fireteam gives you and your allies a way to get into the fray without affecting each other. not only do effects like the Conduction Zone and the Shadowshot Node not affect your Fireteam members, but they have complete invulnerability to everything you throw at them, and vice versa. Use /Fireteam Invite [Player] to send out an invite, /Fireteam Accept [Inviter] to approve it! From there, you can spend as much time in a fireteam as you'd like until you leave with /Fireteam Leave.
Smoke Bomb
The Smoke Bomb is something that can be used to grant the Nightstalker temporary invisibility when they have the full Nightstalker armor set on.
New Crafting Materials
- Solar Light, Void Light, Arc Light: Materials used to craft all of the Super weapons and armor. Requires their respective Dimmed Light and a Nether Star to craft.
- Diminished Solar Light, Fleeting Void Light, Fliskering Arc Light: Rare, Dimmed forms of Light. Can be found in Bastions, End Cities and Ancient Cities respectively.
- Solar, Void, and Arc Smithing Templates: As the Hammer of Sol and all of the Armor sets are upgrades of their Netherite counterparts, they require a Smithing table to craft them. A Smithing Template requires the respective Dimmed Light, and the Table requires the Template and the respective Light to craft your desired item
- Void Light Shard: Breaking down Void Light gives you 9 Shards, which can be used to craft Shadowshot Arrows and Smoke Bombs.
Thank you
I appreciate everyone who gives this mod a try, even if it's not for you! Destiny 2 is a fun game, despite issues within it at the moment, and I wanted to bring some of its charm and fun to Minecraft as well!
